• Tap on it and select the settings when you want it to turn on.

Of course, you will not always want to be in quiet mode. If you want to receive the notifications back and enjoy some reel time, you will want to turn it off. To do so follow the steps mention below:

• Go on the quiet mode and tap the toggle to turn off the mode. 
• Please remember that you may also get an option to skip it rather than completely turning it off. If you want to just skip for one day, you can enjoy that option. Whereas, if you need to completely shut it down, simply turn it off.

I usually use this feature late at night when I am about to sleep. But there are many night owls who love late-night texts. To deal with them, I simply added a quiet message for them. These messages are also known as silent messages and can be used by following the steps mentioned below:

• Open the app and go to direct messages. 
• Choose the friend or the contact you want to send the message to.
• To turn on the silent message, you will have to write your message by starting with /silent followed by a space. 
• When you enter it, you will see a small icon with a slash to indicate the silent mode. 
• Once you enter it, type your message and tap on the send option. 
• The person will receive a message in the inbox that will help him to know you are unavailable.

Using this message is not just when you have turned on the Quiet mode. You can use it in different types of situations which I have mentioned below: 

• When you need to send a quick message but don’t need a quick reply. 
• If a person is busy and you want to deliver them a message. 
• When you want to share a late-night message but they might be sleeping.

• Silent messages are a very new addition to Instagram. Some might have this feature whereas others may not. Therefore, if you don’t see it on your account, don’t stress out. 
• Silent messages only stop the notification from prompting on another’s screen. The person you have sent it to will eventually see the message when they open the inbox. 
• Never use it until it is required. It is because if you overuse silent messages, it is possible that your messages are missed by the other person. 
• Silent message is a way to connect with people without interrupting them. Your notification will not disturb them when they are doing something important. Therefore, if you have a message that is not very important, you can send it as a silent message and let the other person reply to you whenever he or she can.
